Public webinars on the draft report
February is the final month to send through submissions on the draft report. Our public webinars were a great chance to hear more about the Panel’s recommendations ahead of writing your submission.

We hosted five one-hour webinars in February to give people an opportunity to ask questions about the draft report before making a submission.
The recording of these webinars are below:
2 February, 12:30pm – General public webinar: The Panel of the Review present their draft report
7 February, 10am – Discussing the draft report with an environmental audience
9 February, 12:30pm – Discussing the draft report with Aotearoa’s accessibility community
14 February, 10am – Discussing the draft report with the business community
14 February, 2pm – Discussing the draft report with young people
These webinars supplemented our local government and iwi webinars and were intended for anyone who wanted to hear more about the draft report and recommendations before making a submission.
We welcome submissions on our draft report up until 28 February 2023. Submissions will be considered towards our final report, which is due in June. Visit our submissions portal to make a submission.
About the webinars
At each of these webinars, we discussed our draft report, He mata whāriki, he matawhānui. The draft report outlines recommendations that, if implemented, will make a major difference to the way our system of local governance works in Aotearoa New Zealand. It also provokes further discussion and seeks feedback on a number of questions.
The webinars were intended to help the public gain a better understanding of the draft report and clarify their thinking ahead of making a submission. They included a presentation of the draft report followed by a chance to ask the Panel questions.
Each webinar had closed captions enabled, technical support available, and will be recorded for future play-back.
A New Zealand Sign Language interpreter supported our accessibility webinar at 12.30pm 9 February.
