A new due date for our draft report

Our draft report is now due to the Minister of Local Government on 28 October 2022.
From its release, we will be encouraging people to read the report and take the opportunity to provide submissions to be considered towards our final report, which is now due in June 2023.

A new due date for our draft report

The due date for the draft report has been revised twice. Once at the request of the local government sector to shift the release date to mid-October, after the local body elections, and more recently a further two-week extension was requested by the Review office due to the impacts of COVID-19 on staff.

It is important to us that the report reflects the breadth of engagement, the material that has been gathered, and the quality and quantity of information we have considered. This two-week extension gives us the time we need to incorporate this information into our draft report and recommendations.

The change in the date of release was notified by email, on our social media channels, on our website, and in our monthly newsletter in the week beginning 22 August 2022. You can see the August newsletter here, or subscribe to our mailing list here.

The period for submissions has also been extended. We will now welcome submissions from 28 October 2022 to 28 February 2023. This extension recognises the delay in the release of the draft report and the busy induction and post-election period that local government faces.

Information on how to make a submission will be shared ahead of the release of the draft report. Our final report is due to be released in June 2023.

Thank you to everyone who has engaged with our mahi so far. All feedback received up until 30 June 2022 is being considered towards our draft report and recommendations.
